celebrating family style
So, we packed this day full of celebratory fun for hubs’ birthday. He started out his day by sleeping in till 9am. (I had my turn yesterday morning.) I made Belgian waffles, with my new waffle maker, and we delivered his breakfast to him in bed.
Along with 4 personal cards, a workout shirt and the latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. (Don’t even want to talk about the timing on that last gift. Hubs’ XBox just died, somewhat. The evil “red ring of death” appeared on his system just a couple of nights ago. He now has to send it in for the hardware to be fixed. Lovely.)
Once he came out of our bedroom dungeon, we decided, last minute, to take the family to a local younger kid amusement park. We shoved some snacks in a bag and away we went. We spent a good two hours riding log rides, carousels, trains, cars, airplanes, flying fish, and dragon roller coasters.
We returned from the park to take naps, or at least attempt to, while hubs went on a bike ride along a local river trail. Hola had fallen asleep a mere 4 minutes before we got home, so getting him back down was somewhat of an annoying chore, but he eventually got the idea.
Once the boys were up, we started in on making the cupcakes. Then, hubs returned, so we headed to the store for dinner supplies. Gorgonzola burgers and vanilla cupcakes with chocolate icing were on the birthday menu. (Luckily, baths were next on our list.)
All in all, I think hubs had a great weekend celebrating his big day. I can say one thing for myself, for all the work that goes into making someone’s day special and taking care of regular duties, I can say for certain, I am pooped.
Goodnight all.

Happy Birthday to the Mr. JTL.
Thank you for explaining the “red ring of death” as an XBox term… phew… thought I’d have to send J some ointment for his b-day.
